Dominican Sister of Peace M. Hyacinth Brennan, OP, the former Elizabeth Brennan, died on May 5, 2014, at Regina Health Center at the age of 90. She was in her 68th year of religious profession. She was born on January 19, 1924, and was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Fisher Brennan. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, from Sacred Heart Church, Toledo, OH, on September 8, 1944, and made profession of vows on September 1, 1946. Dominican Sister of Peace Peggy Manning, OP, died on May 5, 2014, at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, after 53 years in religious life. She was born on October 22, 1939, the daughter of Patrick J. Manning and Jennie Diamond Manning of Philadelphia. She is survived by her community and several cousins.

Sr. Josefina Rivera-Ortiz, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Josefina Rivera-Ortiz, OP, died at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, KY on April 25, 2014. She was 104 years old. Sr. Josefina entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de' Ricci in 1937 and professed vows in 1940.

Dominican Sister of Peace Geraldine Flattery, OP, died at Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY) on April 10, 2014.

Geraldine Louise Flattery was born to Edward and Mary Flattery on May 20, 1930; she was one of nine children. Ask Sr. Geraldine where she was born and with a chuckle she will answer "In Lynn the city of Sin." In this Massachusetts city she attended St. Patrick Grammar School and St. Mary High School. Even as a teenager she knew she wanted to become a Sister.

Sr. Michele Ryan, OP

Sr. Michele Ryan, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center on April 5, 2014. She is survived by her niece Michele and husband Joe Lascala and her nephew Thomas and sister in law Elaine Ryan. Sr. Michele was preceded in death by her brother Bernard. Ellen (O'Shaughneessy) Padberg attended her funeral liturgy, along with the President of Albertus Magnus College, Julia McNamara, and her husband Richard Lolatte.

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Rose Clement Stalter, OP, died at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, OH, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born in Somerset, OH, on August 29, 1922. Sr. Rose Clement was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Rose (McGonagle) Stalter, her brothers Neil, Charles, and James, and her sisters Louise Grimm, Marguerite Augustus, and Bonnie Walters. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Josetta Barnard, a native of Omaha, knew everybody and in fact was a close friend for almost 80 years with Sr. Columba Casey and Sr. Paschala Noonan. The threesome entered Dominican Life together and they were lifelong friends. She is survived by a host of other friends as well.
