Dominican Sister of Peace Geraldine Flattery, OP, died at Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY) on April 10, 2014.

Geraldine Louise Flattery was born to Edward and Mary Flattery on May 20, 1930; she was one of nine children. Ask Sr. Geraldine where she was born and with a chuckle she will answer "In Lynn the city of Sin." In this Massachusetts city she attended St. Patrick Grammar School and St. Mary High School. Even as a teenager she knew she wanted to become a Sister.

Sr. Michele Ryan, OP

Sr. Michele Ryan, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center on April 5, 2014. She is survived by her niece Michele and husband Joe Lascala and her nephew Thomas and sister in law Elaine Ryan. Sr. Michele was preceded in death by her brother Bernard. Ellen (O'Shaughneessy) Padberg attended her funeral liturgy, along with the President of Albertus Magnus College, Julia McNamara, and her husband Richard Lolatte.

Sr. Rose Clement Stalter, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Rose Clement Stalter, OP, died at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, OH, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born in Somerset, OH, on August 29, 1922. Sr. Rose Clement was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Rose (McGonagle) Stalter, her brothers Neil, Charles, and James, and her sisters Louise Grimm, Marguerite Augustus, and Bonnie Walters. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sr. Josetta Barnard, OP

"If you are from Nebraska, you know everybody and everybody knows you."

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Josetta Barnard, a native of Omaha, knew everybody and in fact was a close friend for almost 80 years with Sr. Columba Casey and Sr. Paschala Noonan. The threesome entered Dominican Life together and they were lifelong friends. She is survived by a host of other friends as well.

Sr. Rebecca Betz, OP

Born into eternal life: 7 Feb 2014

Dominican Sister of Peace Rebecca Betz, 88, died on Friday, February 7, 2014, at Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio.

Sr. Rebecca was born on January 1, 1926 in Braddock, Pennsylvania. In 1956, she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace, and made Religious Profession in 1958.

Sr. Rebecca earned a BSE from St. John College, Cleveland, in 1963; she also earned an MSE from the same school in 1976.

Sr. Martha Leyden, OP

Born into eternal life: 1 Jan 2014

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Martha Leyden, 81, died on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Regina Health Center, Richfield, Ohio. Sr. Martha (formerly Sr. Paula) was the daughter of Michael and Catherine Leyden and entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace, from St. Sebastian Parish after graduating from St. Vincent High School in 1950. She made first profession of vows on August 4, 1952.

Sr. Mary Agnes McMahon, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Mary Agnes McMahon died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, December 27, 2013. She was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1918, to Joseph M. and Leona (Stenger) McMahon. She entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1935 and made her Profession of Vows in 1937.
