The Legacy of a valiant woman named Sister Ann Rita Sullivan began on this earth 99 years ago. Irene, as she was named by her parents, was the first child of Jeremiah and Mary (Healy) Sullivan. Two years later the family was blessed with another baby girl named Rita. By the time Irene was seven years old, they had lost both parents and were sent to live with Aunt Margaret. They also boarded at Rosary Academy in Watertown for several years. These were difficult times, but Irene and Rita forged a deep sisterly love that would continue throughout their lives.
