Dominican Sister of Peace Kathryn McQuillan, OP, died on February 23, 2015, at the age of 95 at Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY). Born in Philadelphia in 1919 to Philip and Theresa Hartman, Kathryn was one of 11 children. Three of those children would become religious Sisters. One would become a priest.
The following is the eulogy prepared by Sr. Pat Moran, OP, and delivered at her funeral by Sr. Cass McKernan, OP:
Dominican Sister Juliana Savoy's earthly life ended January 22, 2015, at the age of 88. The Motherhouse at St. Catharine, KY, became her home when Hurricane Katrina forced her relocation; she died after several years in Sansbury Care Center at the end of an itinerant life.
Sr. Carolyn Krebs, OP (formerly Sr. Mary Alexandria), died peacefully at St. Luke Hospice in Bethlehem, PA, on January 18, 2015. Sr. Carolyn was born in Baltimore, MD, the only child of Charles and Agnes (Strickroth) Krebs, on May 7, 1935. She is survived by her cousin Margaret McGrath.
She entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de' Ricci in July 1957 and was professed in February 1960.
Sr. Catherine Marie Servis, OP, entered eternal life on December 26, 2014, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, KY, after 68 years in religious life. She is survived by her brother Joseph along with many nieces and nephews including Donna Servis.
Sr. Carmen Gonzalez, OP, died December 23, 2014, at McLaren Hospital in Pontiac, MI. She is survived by her brother, Juan Carlos of Connecticut and a nephew, Carlos of DeVilla, CA.
Sr. Carolyn Krebs, OP, prepared a eulogy:
It is most appropriate that our celebration of Sr. Carmen Gonzalez's Liturgy of Resurrection should open with the hymn "Be Not Afraid." For as she chose today's readings and sung prayer, she gave us a testament of her life and her message to us today.
Sr. Evelyn (Marie) Marchand, OP, died in Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, KY, at 90 years of age after a lengthy illness. Until two weeks prior to her death, she never ceased smiling and warmly greeting everyone as "Cheré." That was her way, learned following her birth into the large Cajun family of Nelson and Mary Eunice (Gaudin) Marchand in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Sr. Ruth Elsner, OP entered eternal life on November 24, 2014 at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon, Kentucky, in the 61st year of her religious life. Her Funeral Service was held on December 4, 2014 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel and burial followed at the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.

Sr. Mary Michael Spangler, OP, died Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Mohun Health Care Center (Columbus, OH). She was born in Woodsfield, OH, in 1924, and in 1944 entered the former Congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Sr. Mary Michael ministered in the field of Catholic education and taught in the primary grades in Marietta, Columbus, Steubenville and Zanesville, OH. After earning her PhD from the University of Notre Dame she taught in the Education Department at Ohio Dominican University for 44 years.
Dominican Sister of Peace Rita Agnes Masse, OP (93), died Sunday November 16, 2014, at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH. She was born February 16, 1921, in Zanesville, OH, to Frank and Julia Ann McCabe Masse. She was a teacher in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and Ohio where she taught in Marietta, Steubenville, Lancaster and Columbus at Bishop Watterson High School. She served as the Archivist at the Columbus Chancery Office and was a Myers-Briggs presenter throughout the United States. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Sr.
