Taking the Next Step

OK. So you've been hearing a lot from our Vocation team about how to know if Dominican life is for you. But what happens if your discernment process leads you to want to join the Dominican Sisters of Peace? Happily, on Sunday, September 23, our Sisters and Associates in the Great Bend, Kansas, area will take part in what we call the "rite of entrance" - the ceremony where we welcome a new Candidate (the term given to someone in the beginning stage of her time living in community). This ceremony is the community's way of opening our hearts to a new member and letting her know how happy we are to be sharing our life with her as she continues her discernment with us.

On Sunday, we will welcome Anne Knight to continue her life journey as a Candidate. Anne was first an Associate with us, drawn by the Dominican charism of preaching, and then entered into discernment about living the vowed life of a Sister. As Anne says, "Having gotten to know and grown to love these Sisters, I am very happy to be starting this next chapter in my journey. I am looking forward with excitement and gratitude to sharing my life in community with some excellent Dominican women."

Anne brings with her wonderful life experiences that we're excited to share. We, in turn, offer her the blessings of community life lived in the Dominican tradition. Add to that the presence of the Spirit in and among us, and we anticipate that Anne's time of Candidacy will be filled with wonderful adventures for her and for us!
