Associates Ready To Preach "With A Bonfire"

Associates and Sisters at the Northeast Associates Renewal Commitment Ceremony on Sunday in Rosary Chapel, Watertown, MA, welcomed Associates Pat Daly, Carol Freidholm, Marie Russo, and Patricia Lyons for their four year renewal. Mentor Team member Sr. Maureen Flanagan, OP, began the program with the God's Spirit Prayer. All were challenged by Associate Patricia Lyons, OPA, to be "the Ambassadors for Christ" described by St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians 5: "So whoever is in Christ is a new creation. Behold the old order has passed away, now all is new.... So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God was appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ be reconciled to God."     

Patricia continued, "We are called to be Ambassadors. We are called to be Ambassadors for the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. As Associates, we are asked to discern, to have a conversation with God-Creator examining how we are living out our commitment to be an Associate. Reconciled, humble and grateful again for our gift of call to be Dominican Associates, we must respond anew with a deeper and broader commitment of our time, talent and treasure. Ready to be Associates who preach not with a new fire but with a BONFIRE - Preaching Peace, Building Peace, and Being Peace."

Associates Council Requests Agenda Items
The Associates Council will meet August 24-26 in the Oxford Motherhouse for a weekend of work combined with a special ice cream social with the Michigan Associates. Associates and Sisters are encouraged to forward questions and/or agenda items to Sr. Amy McFrederick, OP, for inclusion in the Council meeting discussions.
