Please select all that apply:

  • Are you eager to expand your knowledge?
  • Do you feel reasonably self-confident?
  • Do you love books and find yourself stealing away to read?
  • Do you like logic and consider yourself a good strategist?
  • Do you feel energized when you generate new ideas?
  • Do you love the challenge of implementing ideas?
  • Is abstract thinking fairly easy for you?
  • Are you comfortable in the systematic and theoretical realm?
  • Is your faith deep?
  • Is your relationship with God a priority?

If you answered "yes" to three or more of the questions above, then you may be a DOMINICAN in disguise! Dominicans like to think, and they do not find a contradiction between faith and reason. We also enjoy entering into dialogue with others and often can be heard respectfully inquiring, "Can you tell me more about why you believe X, Y, or Z?"

Admittedly, not all Dominicans are "A" students, but we all value study's power to inform our minds and transform our hearts. "Veritas," a treasured motto of the Order of Preachers, invites us to seek Truth with a capital "T"-the "Truth of God" revealed in Jesus, the Christ.

Our Constitutions say, "…Dominican Sisters of Peace…are a religious institute of Dominican women called to preach the liberating truth of the Word of God (1)…Through the search for truth, we strive to create and sustain a more just society, one that reflects the compassion and generosity of God (22)" (Constitutions, Dominican Sisters of Peace)

If you are "hooked on study," captivated by the liberating truth of the Gospel and on fire about sharing this GOOD NEWS, I invite you to connect with the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Let's together actively seek the fulfillment of God's Reign "of truth and life, of holiness and grace, of justice love and peace!"

I for one dare you to say "yes" to questioning, to delving into issues such as why so much violence exists in Africa and Latin America, to experiencing diversity in our cultures, to living life to lits fullest in community.
