COLUMBUS, OH - On Monday, June 25, Dominican Sisters of Peace joined the Nuns on the Bus tour at Congressman Pat Tiberi's office in Columbus, Ohio. Associate Rev. Tim Ahrens, OPA, was also present to offer a short speech regarding the efforts of these women and many other Sisters and nuns around the country (click here to read his words).
The "Nuns on the Bus: Nuns Drive for Faith, Family and Fairness" tour is a multi-state bus trip that is being made by Catholic Sisters who are highlighting the work Sisters do to meet the needs of people at the economic margins and revealing how federal budget cuts proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and passed by the House of Representatives will hurt struggling families in these states. Along the way, these Sisters are visiting Catholic-sponsored social service agencies that serve people who will be further harmed by proposed budget cuts, and they will meet with congressional offices to advocate for a fair budget.
