GREAT BEND, KS - Sr. Carla Mae Streeter, OP, sharpened the understanding of Dominican spirituality and Dominican mission for a large group gathered in Great Bend, Kansas on June 15-19. In speaking of Dominican Spirituality, Sr. Carla Mae began with a discussion of spirituality, contemplation, and prayer. As Dominican "worded women" she urged the Sisters to spend prayerful time learning how each of them must be able to put into words the faith that guides them. In order for the Sisters to clearly and accurately verbalize their faith on topics such as the brokenness and woundedness of the world, the person of Jesus, the Trinity, the distinction between the church and the hierarchy, the relationship between faith and science, interreligious dialogue, and Catholic sexual formation means that Sisters will dedicate time and effort to the "asceticism of serious study."
