The Martin de Porres Center, housed in recently renovated space at St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus, is a ministry outreach center dedicated to providing for the education, spirituality, and hospitality needs to our neighbors in the surrounding area and to others in need.
The Center is named after the Dominican saint Martin de Porres, Peruvian-born son of a freed African slave and a Spanish nobleman. Known for his compassion and service to the poor, Martin’s example provides the spirit for the Center. Dedicated to serving others through collaboration and mutuality, the Martin de Porres Center partners with local agencies, churches, and organizations that respond to educational and spiritual needs in this area, particularly those of women and youth.
The Center serves as a satellite of the Dominican Learning Center in Columbus, providing adult literacy training, and also provides space for spiritual direction. The conference rooms welcome various speakers, group meetings, retreat days, and cultural events throughout the year.
We hope you’ll join us in this exciting venture in whatever way you are able. We are grateful for all that has been given to us to make this Center possible. We know, too, that much is expected of us as we open ourselves to serve and to be enriched by all those who will share the space with us.
