The Dominican Sisters of Peace will hold three retreat evenings for single, Catholic women (between the ages of 17 and 45) who desire information about consecrated life and want some time for prayerful discernment.  The Twilight Retreats will be held in Hew Haven, Connecticut; Watertown (Boston area), Massachusetts; and New Orleans, Louisiana. Each will be held one evening (from 6:30 until 9:00 pm) and will include a light supper.

COLUMBUS, OH – About 425 Sisters and Associates of the Dominican Sisters of Peace gathered July 22-25, 2010, at Ohio Dominican University for their first congregational Assembly since their founding on Easter Sunday 2009.  On Saturday evening of the meeting, the group celebrated the Jubilees of Sisters marking milestone anniversaries of profession, including 22 women commemorating 50 years and one woman commemorating 25 years of vowed religious life.

COLUMBUS, OH – About 25 Dominican Sisters of Peace participated in a faith-based rally outside the Ohio state capitol building this evening in an effort to encourage just, humane, and comprehensive immigration reform.

In this month’s installment of Just Reflecting, Heartland Farm resident and staff member Sr. Jane Belanger discusses the connection between faith and climate change.  Offering resources for calculating one’s carbon footprint, her essay encourages even small steps toward reducing our impact on the Earth as an issue of faith and of morality.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – This spring, the St. Bernard Project of New Orleans sponsored their second program for several dozen Catholic Sisters and friends to help rebuild houses in the devastated St. Bernard civil parish.  Nuns Build 2010 was held May 31 - June 5 and once again included the Dominican Sisters of Peace, with a wonderful contingent of volunteers from St. Catharine College (SCC), one of the congregation’s founded institutions located in St. Catharine, Kentucky.
