“Justice Reflecting” (March 2010)
This month’s “Just Reflecting” essay challenges us to consider the plight of immigrants in the United States, and to commit to study and prayer on how we can be agents of change and of peace. Sr. Rose Mary Stein Named “Woman of the Year”
Dominican Sister of Peace Rose Mary Stein, OP, has been named “Woman of the Year” by the Dodge City (Kansas) Area Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Inc. The award was presented to her at a festive banquet on February 20, 2010, at the local Civic Center, where her acceptance speech was met with a standing ovation by the hundreds of attendees.

Monthly Justice Reflection
Promoter of Justice Judy Morris, OP, announces a new feature on the Dominican Sisters of Peace website called “Just Reflecting.” This series of reflections on social justice issues will be a monthly feature posted to the Justice area of the congregation’s website. Many thanks to Dominican Sister of Peace Mary Anne Weisemann-Mills, OP for her February reflection entitled “Contemplation Enables Us to Be the Preachers Who Do Justice.”

St. Mary’s Retreat House Celebrates 50 Years
This year, St. Mary Retreat House in Oxford, MI, celebrates 50 years of ministering to the thousands of women, men, and youth who have come to its campus to enrich their spiritual life. A ministry founded through the Oxford Dominicans and continuing under the new Dominican Sisters of Peace, St. Mary’s today hosts a broad schedule of weekend retreat experiences from September through May, and offers space for other groups or individual retreats. Sr. Maria Ciriello Receives 2009 Spirit of Holy Cross Award
The Congregation of Holy Cross, which operates the University of Notre Dame and the University of Portland, has honored Sr. Maria Ciriello, OP, as a recipient of the 2009 Spirit of Holy Cross Award. The honor recognized her many years of close association with the province and the ways in which she helped to enhance the mission of Holy Cross in her ministry at the University of Portland, where she served as Dean of the School of Education for 13 years.
