As the we grow more fully into our identity as the Dominican Sisters of Peace, we will draft an official Mission Statement for the congregation. However, at this time, the Prologue of our draft Constitutions articulates in broad but significant strokes our mission as an apostolic congregation of Dominican women:
In the beginning was the Word,
God’s eternal Word proclaimed from all eternity,
made flesh in Jesus Christ,
and heard as call by Dominic and his family
since the thirteenth century.
God continues to speak to us,
calling women and men into this family
of Dominic and Catherine,
sending us to be light for the world,
preachers of grace and truth.
Called by the Spirit and formed as women of the Church
within the vibrant tradition of the Order of Preachers,
we, the Dominican Sisters of Peace, journey together,
inspired by the wisdom and faith of our founders
and the courage with which they faced their future.
We are sent by God to be the Holy Preaching,
as we praise, we bless, and we preach
the liberating truth of the Gospel of Jesus,
and labor with God for the transformation of all creation.
